Burt Bacharach was talented and charismatic. There is no doubt about it. Consequently, his shyer partner, Hal David, was never given as much recognition as he should have been. His lyrics were wonderful.
On Movies Broadway Singers & Beyond our next tribute will be dedicated to Part Two of The Collaborators and sometimes there even more than two.
Our tribute includes Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer’s Skylark, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s No Other Love, Debussy’s Reverie with band leader, Larry Clinton’s words penned to this beautiful melody. We also have Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne’s Three Coins in the Fountain, and Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes’ This Happy Madness sung by the one and only Frank Sinatra. Of course, I’ve included Bacharach and David.
Performers include Andy Williams, Keely Smith, Johnny Mathis, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Carly Simon, Jack Jones and more. Listen for Rodgers & Hart’s pulsating arrangement of My Funny Valentine sung by Michael Buble. I think Larry would have loved this one.
Enjoy this beautiful music.
With a song in my heart.
Sherry
