Sherry’s Cherries: Sunday Will Never Be The Same

Please join us for a new tribute to lite rock. As a teenager, in the age of the Beatles and Rolling Stones, I was caught in a time warp. I was hooked on the music of Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, and others. But through the years, I did have favorites in the world of Rock N Roll.

So we will go a little beyond this time. Some of these songs might be favorites of yours. Some you’ll go, “I remember that!”, and others will be vaguely familiar.

The world of music lost beautiful Olivia Newton-John, but we still have her gorgeous music. Her legacy. The DMCA rules will only let me play three of Olivia’s songs, but they are on this tribute.

Marvin Gaye never fully recovered from the loss of Tammi Terrell. In honor of them, I am playing Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

Dan Fogelberg was always a favorite of mine. He left this world to soon, but his legacy of music lives on.

Artists live a glorious life of creativity. But for everything you desire there is a price to pay to put out the fire. Artists can rise to the top of the mountain, but one must have balance when at the top. It’s a precarious location. So to all artists, create with joy. It’s the journey, not the destination.

The show opens with Sunday Will Never Be the Same by Spanky and Our Gang, and we close with Loggins and Messina’s Fever Dream. This tribute also includes the music of The Friends of Distinction, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson. I am dedicating this show to Olivia and my dad, Sam. Thank you listeners. Enjoy the music!

To quote Edgar Allen Poe, “All that we seem is a dream within a dream.” Ah . . . . .

With a song in my heart,

Sherry
