Sherry’s Cherries – Song on the Radio

Many years ago, I drove my daughter and her friends to dance classes. Two hours later I would pick them up, but I would always arrive early, sit in the car, and listen to the radio. One night I heard a ‘song on the radio’ that I had never heard before, and I fell in love again. 

In those days you could call the radio station and actually get to speak to the disc jockey. When I called the station the disc jockey who was there said he loved the song too. This piece of music was called Song on the Radio by Al Stewart.

On my next show, I pay tribute to beautiful music that goes a little beyond. . . a little lite jazz, a little lite rock. You will hear from artists like Sergio Mendez, Basia, Swing-Out Sister, Sam Riney, Ottmar Liebert, Acoustic Alchemy, and more. 

As in past shows, some of these you will recognize but others, I know, will be new.

I would like to thank two radio stations that introduced me to much of this music. First, from 1979 – 1982 I lived in Los Angeles and my favorite radio station was KJLH (Kindness Joy Love and Happiness). I never forgot them and some of the music you hear on this special I first heard on their station. Next, when I lived in Phoenix in the mid-80s I tuned into KYOT and they also introduced me to some of this music.

Now I get to play it for you.  I hope you enjoy this journey.
