Sherry’s Cherries – Salute to Broadway Songs: I Have Dreamed

“Only music may span that space between the finite and the infinite…”  – Edgar Cayce.

On our next Sherry’s Cherries, Movies Broadway Singers and Beyond will pay tribute to Broadway and some of the most beautiful music from the greatest composers and lyricists.

For all you soundtrack people – you might like this one. Most of these songs originated on Broadway but then they were heard in movies.

You will hear from composers and lyricists like Rodgers & Hammerstein, Rodgers & Hart, Stephen Sondheim, Frank Loesser, Stephen Schwartz, George & Ira Gershwin, Lerner & Loewe, Lerner & Lane, Kander & Ebb and more. Some versions I took from the Broadway stage; some will be sung by artists like Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Bernadette Peters, Brent Barrett, and more.

Some of this music will be familiar to you but some I know will be new.

Look for Meadowlark and Proud Lady from The Baker’s WifeBy The Skin of Our Teeth is a powerful piece of music sung by the wonderful Brent Barrett. I chose beautiful Bernadette Peters to sing There Won’t Be Trumpets, a thought-provoking song, music and lyrics by the late Stephen Sondheim.

Please join me and give a listen. You won’t be disappointed. If you like them, let me know on our website.

The art piece I chose is called New York Skyline. It was completed in 1999. I remember the Twin Towers. I am grateful to have them on this piece.

Have a happy and healthy year ahead. This song list is dedicated to my stepmom, Jane. She loved show music.

With a Song in My Heart,

Sherry
