Sherry’s Cherries – My Shining Hour

I’ve often been asked what my favorite song is and frankly, I can’t answer. I have hundreds of favorites. On Sunday, July 2nd, Movies Broadway Singers and Beyond pays tribute to some of these favorites.

You’ll hear from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Mathis, Carmen McRae, Percy Faith, Barry Manilow and more. Listen for music from the genius of Lorenz Hart, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Stephen Sondheim, Harold Arlen, Richard Rodgers, Ira Gershwin and many more.

Of course, this is only part one! I have left out dozens of other favorites. This tribute showcases mellow, beautiful melodies, so if you have an hour, please enjoy these songs with me. This music is timeless.

When George Gershwin passed away at 38, his lyricist brother, Ira, worked with the gifted Jerome Kern and created the outstanding song, Long Ago and Far Away from the movie Cover Girl with Rita Hayworth. Also look for an incredible version of Johnny Mathis’ Till Love Touches Your Life. Percy Faith’s Stranger In Paradise is exquisite and this music comes from Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances.

The show opens with Frank Sinatra’s This Happy Madness and closes with My Shining Hour sung by the one and only Ella Fitzgerald.  Wishing you all the best. Sharing this music is my passion.

With a song in my heart,

Sherry
