One of our listeners sent me this photograph of the “original” Sherry’s Cherries, the plane of the brave 401st Squadron in World War II. Packard’s Crew.
I knew that some day I would do a show dedicated to these heroes with the music of that era.
Movies Broadway Singers and Beyond is grateful to present Moonlight Serenade. All of the songs and singers sang this music to the brave men and women in the armed forces and the people back home missing them.
My dad was a veteran of WWII and one of my mother’s best friends enlisted after Pearl Harbor.
Just listening to this music, I felt like I was traveling back in time. Tom Brokaw called that generation the greatest generation.
The music of that time was romantic and filled with longing. Lovers were separated and so many died.
All of the music in this show was performed and sung by artists of that time.
I do have one exception, I have many versions of A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, but I felt that Rod Stewart’s was the best. To me, Rod sounded like he was really there . . . in Berkeley Square . . . and he is British.
Enjoy the music.
With a song in my heart,
Sherry
