Everywhere you go from medical buildings, hospitals, law firms, schools, you see people with tattoos.
Consider that the tattoo industry is a 1.6 billion dollar industry and over 20% of American adults have at least one tattoo.
For musician and photo journalist, Brandy Isadora, it was a fascination that would grow over time. As a member of a heavy metal band, Corvis, she went on tour. She met many people who had tattoos and she wanted to know what their tattoos represented.
After returning home the band broke up. Brandy began playing cello in an orchestra but her fascination with tattoos stayed with her.
She began interviewing and photographing people from all walks of life, asking why they chose their particular tattoos. What they meant to them. Hearing the stories her subjects would tell was a heart warming experience. So many people got their tattoo to remember or honor a loved one or lost loved one or special memory. And so the book, TattleTales, Tattoo Stories and Portraits was born.
If you have a tattoo or have ever wondered why a family member or friend got tattooed, then this book is for you.
My show is Rock and Roll. In the 1950’s Alan Freed created the name Rock and Roll. We’re playing: America, The Bee Gees, The Beatles, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Tommy James and so many more. Please join us.
