Glenn Miller was a musician and war hero. He had incredible success but it took time and it did not come easily.
But consider his popularity reached his zenith in the late l930’s and early 1940’s. In four years Glenn recorded 16 #1 hits and 69 top ten hits. That’s more than Elvis or The Beatles. (I was shocked when I read that!!!!!)
The movie, The Glenn Miller Story, with the one and only Jimmy Stewart and versatile June Allyson, embellished the storyline for dramatic purposes but Glenn was an incredible trombonist, conductor and arranger. He worked hard.
During World War 2 Glenn enlisted and he formed his band which became an orchestra with a string section during this time. Sadly Glenn lost his life during the war. Many speculated that he was on a secret mission and his plane disappeared in the English Channel.
These encore performances are dedicated to Glenn, his musicians and his wife. Thankfully his music will live on forever.
With a song in my heart,
Sherry
