Moonlight Feels Right

Moonlight always feels right to me because I am a night person. When the sun goes down, I go up. The best part of my day is night. In my art room, my spirits soar while listening to this music.

So, on the next Sherry’s Cherries, we are going a little “beyond” into the world of light rock of the past. Think America, Loggins and Messina, Seals & Crofts, Sergio Mendes and you get the picture.

Some of these you might remember. Some will be new. I have a friend who has been in the music business all of his life. He asked me, “Did you put in this one? Did you put in that one?” So I realized this is just Part One of our tribute to this wonderful music.

I added Laura Nyro’s Eli’s Comin’. The story I remember the most about the lovely Laura is that she followed Jimi Hendrix at a Concert. When she came on stage after the phenomenal Hendrix, all she could remember was that the audience booed her. Later on, someone saw a copy of the concert and there was no booing at all. Laura wrote Wedding Bell Blues, Stoney End and so many other wonderful songs recorded by other artists through the years.

I added Delta Lady by the late Leon Russell. It was said that he wrote this song for the beautiful Rita Coolidge.

I chose Fanny from the Bee Gees because it’s my favorite of theirs.

Starbucks’ Moonlight Feels Right will tell you that “the night has begun”.
