This coming weekend, Movies Broadway Singers and Beyond will showcase two great female singers. Ella Fitzgerald’s career spanned many decades. She was known as the “First Lady of Song” and the “Queen of Jazz”. Her vocal range spanned three octaves. She sang the songs of the great composers, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and many others.
She sang with singers like Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. She lit up the stage with her magical voice. Ella passed away in 1996, but people today still acknowledge her contribution to music. She, along with two of my other favorites, Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae, rocked my world. They were geniuses whose magic will live on forever.
Another great singer, Eydie Gorme made the most beautiful music which thrilled audiences. It was said that when Eydie was in her 70’s, she and her beloved husband, Steve Lawrence performed for audiences for three hours straight.
Eydie passed away earlier this month. She will be missed and never forgotten. Please join us this Saturday, from 12-4pm Pacific Time as we celebrate these two amazing talents.
