Basia

Basia and Swing Out Sister

What do Basia and Swing Out Sister have in common?  They both have made some of the most beautiful music in the world.  Basia is a singer, song writer and record producer.  Her Latin flavored jazz music was so successful that she was also able to cross over into the pop music world.  Basia’s vocal range spans three octaves and her styling is unique.  Although she took a period of time off from 1999 -2004, she successfully returned to music after that.  Her fourth album came out in 2009 and was both a critical and commercial success.

Swing Out Sister is a British group.  It began as a trio in England but they are currently a duo.  They chose the name Swing Out Sister from a 1945 movie called Swing Out Sister.  One of my favorite aspects from Swing Out Sister is that many of their songs are done with vocals and also just instrumentals.

On Tuesday, November 11 at 4pm Eastern Time / 2pm Pacific Time, we will be showcasing the music of both Basia and Swing Out Sister.  I’ve included both the instrumental and vocals for Swing Out Sister.  I can’t decide which I like best.

I’ve also included a little Spanky and Our Gang.  After all, I’d Like To Get To Know You and Sunday Will Never Be The Same.
